Jog-A-Thon 2011

My FAVORITE day of the school year is the Jog-A-Thon.  The loud music cranks, while hundreds of kids run and walk around the field trying to beat their record of laps from the year before.  Even Callista gets excited about it.  Ryan ran 6 laps this year, and Chloe ran 24 laps (last year she ran 23).

Art Show

This week there were three early days due to Parent Teacher Conferences.  My kids were very worried about how we would fill our time.  Since Chloe still had a terrible cough....playdates were out of the question.  We decided to have an Art Show.  The kids spent the entire afternoon getting ready for it.

Ryan is having fun with his drawing.  He likes to fit as many things as possible on his drawings.

Ryan made a castle and a turtle.  Chloe made the turtle that is on top of the yellow pedestal, and Callista enjoyed using the cookie cutters to make different shapes.

Here is our drawing display.Ryans' is the most colorful called "Sundown".  He also has the "Fishes" displayed next to it.  Chloe drew in black and white the "Freaky Forest", and Callista drew the "Monster with Spikes".

Watch out Monet, because these watercolors are almost as breathtaking.  Too bad we didn't have any patrons to come and view our show, but we still had a GREAT time putting it all together.



Girls' Night Out!

In preparation for "Twin Day" we needed a girls' night out so that Julia and Chloe could pick their outfits.  We of course had to chronicle the fact that we were riding in a "non-mommy car" that had NO carseats in it.  The girls especially liked that we got to listen to "cool" music as opposed to

Angela and I were cracking up as these two were discussing which pants or tops to try on next through the dressing room walls.  They were sooooo grown up in an eight year old way!

 Tradition says that we have to go to Rite Aid for an ice cream cone after the shopping is done.

The sad part is that the next day, which was twin day, it was pouring rain and freezing.  I never actually got a picture of them.  Next time they decide to match, I'll get one and post it.

Basketball

Ryan had a great 1st season.  He loved his coach and teammates and especially the gatorade afterwards.  These are just a few of our favorite shots throughout the season.  We hope that there are many more seasons to come.







Crazy Hair day

Callista had crazy hair day yesterday with her Joy School friends.  She told me she wanted "moose hair".  When I asked her what she meant by "moose hair" she showed me lots of little pony tails in her hair.  Here is the final outcome:

Callista...you actually look more cute than crazy, but you were pleased with your "moose hair" and I am happy that you are happy!!!

Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day

I LOVE Valentine's Day.  It's actually my favorite holiday.  A day to focus on who you love the most.  I like Christmas too, but there is so much "fluff" that goes along with it, and since the true meaning is supposed to be about love, it just seems to go unnoticed beside all the parties, the baking, the white elephant gifts, and the stress.  Valentine's Day though....just one day...not an entire season.  A day to celebrate with those the most special to you.  To do something extra nice for your most beloved.

Chloe got up and made our bed, Ryan wrote us a sweet letter with a picture, and Callista just kept saying "Happy Valentine's".  We had pizza for dinner (my pick so I wouldn't have to cook), along with purple jello (Callista's pick), strawberries (Chloe's pick), pink lemonade (Ryan's pick), and heart sugar cookies (one of Paul's favorite).

It was a wonderful Valentine's Day!!!



Two Was Not Enough!

The tickets we purchased for Disneyland were a three day special offered only to Military Guests. We were only planning on going for 2 days, but since the three day special was cheaper than buying 2 days...we thought we'd just save the money and buy the 3 day ticket.  Then we realized the kids were going to be off from school on Friday AND Paul's parents Val and Greg would be in town so.........we spent another very fun day at Disneyland and California Adventure.
